2027Project Overview
The San Diego Terminal 1 project is a multi-phase effort to replace the original 1960s terminal with a modern facility that enhances passenger experience, improves airport operations and supports the region’s growing travel demands.
Key features:
- Modern 30-gate terminal to replace the outdated facility
- New 5,000-space Parking Plaza with an advanced parking guidance system
- Efficient three-lane access roadway to reduce traffic congestion
FlatironDragados, in a joint venture with Turner, is leading critical civil infrastructure work, which includes demolition, grading, paving, underground utilities and roadway construction. This is the largest infrastructure project in San Diego International Airport’s history.
Roadway upgrades feature nine roadway bridges, upgraded access routes, plus dedicated pedestrian and bicycle pathways. Space also has been reserved for a future public transit connection, supporting long-term regional growth and sustainability.
